Athletic Philosophy

We realize that athletics is not the most important aspect of life, but we believe that through athletics you can learn quality character traits that will assist you in everday decisions.  God's Word describes the Christian walk in Philippians 3:14 "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus".  We want to teach athletes the principle of striving toward a prize through hard work, discipline, sportsmanship, self-control, and a united spirit.  Teaching the athlete to implement these same character traits in their walk with God is the ultimate goal of Bethel Athletics.

We want to provide excellence in all areas of our athletic program.  The excellence we pursue is not for the benefit of individuals, but for the testimony of Jesus Christ.  The Bible reminds us of this in I Corinthians 10:31 "Whether therefore ye eat, drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God".  We hope to present our program in such a way that allows excellence to be shown in our coaches, players, parents, and fans.

How to Accomplish Excellence:

  • Produce quality students/athletes
  • Emphasizing the correct way to compete, instead of the outcome
  • Allowing the athletes to enjoy the sport
  • Making commitment a priority
  • Never underestimating the power of teamwork
  • Providing facilities for athletes to grow and improve
  • Always respecting authority
  • Remembering that there is life after sports
